Little India

A day and a half trip to Singapore is simply not enough. There is so much to see, so much to taste and so much to do. We went to all the places we wanted to see, but we didn’t get much time doing anything in particular in each place, in addition we had some orientation problems even though the MRT was easy to use. Arab Street, Little India, Orchard Road, Marina Bay and Marina Bay Sands and Garden by the Bay were amazing, and I wish we could have stayed longer to truly experience Singapore.

Guangzhou arrival

All around the world, China

Friday morning we departed from Norway and arrived China saturday morning chinese time. 12 hours on the plane usually feels like forever, but this time I watched movies which kept the time going. When we finally arrived, we got picked up at the airport by some friends and they drove us to our grandparents home who were really happy to see us!fullsizeoutput_13fd

We went out with them yum cha which was very nice, but we were all so tired and just wanted to sleep, so that´s what we did when we came home.IMG_0096IMG_0088

Day 2 we went shopping in China Plaza and Beijing Road which are the nearest shopping areas nearby our apartment. Otherwise, we have yum cha, eaten dinner and spent time with our grandparents. I love when grandpa buys us fruits, they are just so fresh and delicious here compared to Norway!fullsizeoutput_13f2

Florida 2015

All around the world, USA

_MG_5313The summer 2015 was a year filled with travelling. I had always dreamed about going on a language travel with a bunch of other teenagers, and this summer my dream came true. It was a bit expensive though, and to be honest I am not sure if it was really worth that much money. Don’t get me wrong, I had a splendid summer with lots of  memories and friends!_MG_5324IMG_1071_MG_6208_MG_5314

Since I had chosen the EF action learning, I had english classes everyday until lunch time. Normally we ate lunch in the cafeteria or we could sign up for either excursions or other restaurants by lunch time. If we wanted to stay at the resort we usually hung around the pool or at the beach.

The sunsets and sunrises at Cocoa Beach were beautiful. They were so splendid that we voluntarily woke up at 6 am just to see the sunrise. This was one of the things I loved the most about Florida! We also had the tropical storm that hits Florida everyday around 6pm. It was really cool to look at the warm rain pour down, unless you were at the beach. Especially the thunder storms were crazy here, lightening up the skies the first day we arrived.

_MG_5460IMG_1001IMG_6456IMG_5741We also went on many excursion. I didn´t sign up to them all, but I signed up for the ones that I found the most interesting. I went to Disneyland, Universal Studios, alligator river, shopping malls, surfing, baseball game etc. I also got to experience the 4th of July, their independence day which  was cool. There were always yellow school buses that waited for us and drove us around. It first seemed very cool until I learnt how uncomfortable the seats were after hours in the bus, haha.

Even though we just stayed for 3-4 weeks, it was really sad leaving this little adventure. The first time I had travelled alone without my family. I made friends, memories and experiences that I will always remember and keep with my for hopefully the rest of my life. I also learnt so much, and a little by little I have understood that traveling is very important for growth and knowledge about the world, others and yourself.

I just want to say that I am really grateful getting to experience what I did, and travel as much as I am allowed to. Thank you.

Krakow 2015

All around the world, Poland

We went to Krakow in Poland christmas holiday 2015. My oldest sister didn’t come with us because she had to work, so it was only me, my little sister and my parents. Krakow was a really charming city, and the heart of the city was not really big so everything were within walking distance.

The first day we strolled around sightseeing, and we paid one of those “turist taxis” to drive us around the city to get an overview.

The buildings and architecture were amazing here as well. I think that Norway is the only country without really old and majestetic buildings.

One of the places we visited was the salt mine which were incredible. We had to go down hundreds of stairs below the earth to reach the mines. It was a bit claustrophobic down in the mines, but how the mines were made was amazing. There were large, caved rooms with statues and decorations all made of salt. Yes, I tasted one of the walls, and it was pure salt. The thing that amazed me the most was the underground cathedral. It was really beautifully made.

We also visited the Auschwitz concentration camp. I knew what was coming, but it was so horrible to stand where so many people unfairly had lost their lives in horrific ways. It really made an impact on my seeing all that was left behind only the last week before the camp were rescued; hair, glasses, suitcases, shoes, etc. belonging to real human beings.

After the touristic visits, we explored the city centre and did some shopping, and tasted polish food. Some things were better than others, but overall I really enjoyed the food in Krakow.

IMG_6855IMG_6866This was a quick resumé of our little trip to Krakow. Honestly, I can’t remember everything because it’s like 2 years ago, but what I can remember is that I really liked the city and would definitely return if I got the opportunity.
