Sorry that I haven´t been active lately, but the wifi in China was really bad and when I got home to Norway the wifi didn’t work here either, so now I am like sitting on a public place with free wifi. I will blog about China until the trip to Berlin, so I hope you want to follow up!
So after the atelier, our next activity was a trip to the countryside of Guangzhou. It was different from the city life in China that I have gotten so used to, but it was magnific. A river flowing through the whole village with old tree boats made me feel like being in a Chinese Venezia.
I feel like a village like this represents the old China, before the skyscrapers, blocks, etc., but not entirely of course. People were sitting on the street selling fruits and different kinds of food. When we were on the boat we tasted something directly translated to english called “two-layers-milk”, and oh, that was yummy. It is the white thing you see in a bowl on the board in the picture below.
And the fruit on the picture underneath is so good. I am not sure what it is called in english, and I don´t know how to spell it in Chinese, but it is something like “wangpì” in Cantonese pronunciation. Many Chinese people don´t like this fruit because of the sourness, but it is that mix of sour and sweet that I really like about it. Warning though, there are like 3-4 stones in one fruit, so many also think they are annoying to eat.
We spent half the day in the village and after we went to a restaurant to eat. Before we got to the restaurant we stopped by a fruit stand where they sold a weird fruit that turned out to be delicious. Directly translated it is called “big-tree-pineapple”. By look it is easy to confuse with durian, but this fruit doesn’t smell as much and alike, and it kind of tastes like banana, but with another texture.
