Me and my class, we were all taking french, went on an exchange travel to Cherbourg in France (Normandy). After this trip I fell even more in love with La France.
We all stayed in different host families during our stay, and it was a bit scary in the beginning because none of us had done anything like that before. Luckily it went well for everyone!
We went to so many different places in Normandy, one of them being la maison de Christian Dior in Granville, which was my favorite. I loved, loved, loved and still love his house and creations. His work is beautiful, and his house complemented it.
We also went to Bayeux one day to look at the big cathedral and the little city where we found the sweetest and prettiest café of all time!
Of course we visited the memorials as well. We went to the American cemetery overlooking Omaha and Utah beach and Point du Hoc. Thinking about all those people who died in the war really teared me up. How cruel and horrible this world can be. The cemetery was beautifully made, and the atmosphere is indescribable.
Also the Mont Saint Michel was an amazing sight. This old city surrounded by water at high tide. How fantastic France must have been back in the middle age (still is)! This city stunned me, and I really enjoyed my visit.
All in all, the trip was a lot of fun, and after a short week down there it was time to return home to Norway and wait for our correspondents to be hosted by us.
